Vitamin B12 injections – why don’t Beceuty do these?

I have been asked a lot about this treatment lately and if we offer this and the answer is NO!

This is why….

Vitamin B12 is used by the body to help make red blood cells and the nervous system. The best source is from our food, such as eggs and meat. An oral supplement of B12 is generally safe and can be purchased quite easily at a low and fairly safe dose.

Vitamin B12 injections, also known as hydroxycobalamin, is a prescription only treatment, prescribed by a doctor or other medical practitioner, following a blood test to confirm deficiency.

Non-medics are now offering this as a fantastic booster and a beauty treatment,  when it’s actually a prescribed drug!

I would also question where they are getting this from without a prescription or getting  patients to have a blood test to confirm deficiency? Although Vitamin B12 injections are unlikely to be dangerous in themselves, administering them incorrectly without a follow-up and blood test to check levels is.

A B12 deficiency can be caused by other underlying health conditions, such as pernicious anaemia that may then be undetected if B12 is being administered as a ” beauty treatment”.

At Beceuty you will only see a qualified nurse practitioner who sees patients and treats such conditions daily with correct doses, follow-ups and because THEIR BODY ACTUALLY NEEDS THEM!

As I am a nurse, you will always be safe in my care and get the beat advice on all treatments based on years of medical experience and ongoing up to date knowledge. If you’re worried about signs of a B12 deficiency, please talk to your GP!

Lip expectation vs reality!

More recently lip fillers have become very popular. Many people are looking for that “Kylie Jenner” look and, although larger lips can be achieved with makeup, it does not compare to lip filler.

If you are sitting at home contemplating lip filler because your lips don’t balance your face, or you want more volume, then fillers may be an option for you.

HOWEVER there are a few misconceptions about lip injections that you  should educate yourself about and understand before you make the jump.

Professional practitioners administering injections matter!

cosmetology-2520554_640It is important that you see a professional; a qualified practitioner who is trained with experience in facial aesthetics. Almost all the “botched” photos you will see are from untrained practitioners. It is important to look at their reviews and pictures so you can see the quality of their work, after all you want somebody who can create a perfect balance and the result that you wanted.

Results can vary

Every face is different. Some people may need less treatments than others and it is important to understand that you may not get the full result the first time around.

Every face reacts differently and you may get minimal swelling, you may not, you may get lumps, you may not, you may get unwanted lines or shape, you may not. Although every practitioner will do their best to give you the results you desire, this cannot always be achieved in one sitting and you may require further top ups or augmentation to “correct” the lips to achieve your goal.

It is also important to remember that your face may react differently each time you have injections. Just because you did not have any side effects from previous filler, does not men you won’t the next time.

Lip Injections are not permanent

Filler is often advertised as lasting 9- 12 months however, especially in the lip area, it is more realistic that it will last 6 months for most people. This is because the lips are mobile and vascular. You will always keep a better result if you get a filler top up before all the filler has dissolved completely.  Once you stop getting filler the lips will eventually go back to how they were prior to fillers. They will not suddenly “deflate” or look “saggy”

Remember lip injections is not a “one size fits all” it is important to have a consultation prior to treatment to discuss your expectations and any concerns.

At Beceuty we offer a no obligation consultation free of charge so get in touch today!

Dermal Fillers

A dermal filler is a soft tissue filler, which is injected into the skin to restore a smooth, plump effect, filling in facial wrinkles. It is a temporary measure that will typically last for about six months…but can last for up to 18 months. It should not be confused with Botox, which is mostly injected around the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) to stop muscle movement that results in wrinkles – and nothing to do with the plumping and smoothing effect that a dermal filler has.

Dermal fillers are temporary as they are eventually absorbed by the body. The product we use contains substances similar to hyaluronic acid…the benefits of using this type of filler is that hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in your body, so there is less of a chance of you having an allergic reaction. However, with any substance, there is a small chance – you MUST let us know if you are allergic to lidocaine, which is also an ingredient in the filler.

Dermal fillers are often used in the correction of scarring, wrinkles and other blemishes/depressions in the skin and is often the best solution to improve your appearance. It is a quick procedure and the majority of people experience little to no pain at all and minimum side-effects. This kind of filler can be used to remedy several concerns related to facial aging…

  • Adding volume and smoothing out the lines that run from the nose to mouth – called nasolabial folds or laughter lines – and the lines that run from mouth to chin – called marionette lines
  • Augmenting cheeks to restore their youthful appearance and fullness
  • Smoothing out the temple and forehead area

Finally, dermal fillers are a great option which is safer and much less expensive than the more invasive cosmetic surgery and as it is temporary, there’s no problem if you decide not to have it redone when the affects wear off, whereas once you’ve gone under the knife, it is permanent.

Please note: Dermal fillers should not be confused with Botox, which is a completely different product. Although both procedures involve injections, Botox is most often injected around the forehead and wrinkles around the eyes (crow’s feet) to stop muscle movement that results in wrinkles, rather than the straight forward plumping, smoothing effect that dermal fillers give.
